Meet Dominique Toussaint
Basketball has taken me from courts on Staten Island, New York, to arenas across Europe and Mexico. It has introduced me to lifelong friendships, challenged me through adversity, immersed me in cultures I never expected to experience, and taught me lessons that are impact life beyond the game itself.
Today, I am still living that journey as a professional basketball player—but I also know that every opportunity I have earned comes with a responsibility to give back.

I was born and raised on Staten Island, New York, to Caribbean parents whose values shaped the person I am today. Through my family, I learned the importance of discipline, gratitude, embracing new experiences and stepping outside of my comfort zone.
As a student-athlete at Christ the King High School, I competed alongside some of the nation's best players while learning what true excellence demanded every single day. During my career, our team won the 2015 New York State Championship, and I was honored to be named Miss New York Basketball, New York Gatorade Player of the Year, and a Jordan Brand All-American in 2016. I also competed with the Philadelphia Belles on Nike's prestigious EYBL circuit, where I experienced firsthand what it meant to pursue the highest levels of the game.
Those achievements opened the door to the next chapter of my journey at the University of Virginia. →
Over four years as a Cavalier, I learned that success isn't measured only by wins or awards. College basketball challenged me to grow as a teammate, leader, student, and person. It taught the resilience, preparation, and the character required to separate good players from great ones—and great people from everyone else.
After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2020, I began my professional career overseas. Since then, basketball became more than my profession—it had become my passport to the world. →
I've competed in Germany's DBBL and throughout Spain's Liga Femenina, representing organizations including Club Joventut Badalona, Bembibre, Gran Canaria, and Araski. I am now looking forward to a new chapter in my professional journey as I join Toulouse Metropole in France's LFB, embracing the opportunity to compete in a new league, experience a new basketball culture, and continue growing as both a player and person. Along the way, I helped Panteras de Aguascalientes capture the 2025 Mexican Championship and have continued to compete against elite talent while experiencing different styles of basketball, coaching philosophies, and cultures.
My experiences continue to shape not only the player I am today, but the teacher I strive to become.
What makes Grow the Game different?
I teach from experience.
I'm not teaching concepts I learned years ago and no longer practice. I'm teaching the same habits, techniques, preparation, and mindset that I rely on every day as an active professional athlete.
I know what youth coaches are looking for because I was once the young player trying to stand out. I know what college coaches value because I've been recruited and competed at the NCAA level. I know what it takes to earn and keep a professional contract because I'm living that reality every season.
That perspective allows me to bridge the gap between where athletes are today and where they hope to go tomorrow. But just as importantly, I believe basketball should prepare young people for life—not just for the next game.
The game teaches discipline when no one is watching. It teaches accountability when things don't go your way. It teaches confidence earned through preparation, resilience through failure, and humility through success. These lessons have shaped my life.
